CHALLENGE BUREACRACY.

RESTORE NEW ORLEANS DISTRICT E

Vanessa is a lifelong community advocate who's worked with a variety of organizations to improve the lives of New Orleanians. Gueringer's work has earned her various recognitions and awards, including the Geraldine Bell Award for Social Justice, the Community Pride Award, the Neighborhood Partnership Network award, and the American Legion Citizen of the Year Award to name a few.

A graduate of George Washington Carver Senior High School and an attendee of Southern University New Orleans, Vanessa has dedicated her life to better developing the neighborhoods of New Orleans East and the historic Lower Ninth Ward. She is a founding member and current Vice President of the non-profit A Community Voice. Before that, she served on the national board of the non-profit organization, Acorn.

After Hurricane Katrina, Gueringer took on the U.S Department of Justice successfully leading them to investigate the inequities of FEMA spending in the devastated neighborhoods of New Orleans. To this day, she remains vigilant to ensure that proper allocations are made to her neighborhood and the communities of others across the city. Vanessa Gueringer has always put New Orleans first.

Vanessa is running for New Orleans City Council to challenge bureaucracy to bring about real change for the people of District E on day one.
